Why do trinitarians say Jesus--a single person--is God, when the trinity doctrine says...?

I think it's something the JWs mostly made up. I read on one of their questions something about the New Catholic Encyclopedia saying that the Trinity is not taught in the Old Testament. A Catholic answered that the New Cathoic Encyclopedia was not endorced by the Cathoic Church.

I can guarantee you that the Catholic Church is all about the Trinity. I think I found it for you on JW Facts. JW brochures about the Trinity tend to misquote various sources including the New Catholic Encyclopedia.

They simply left off the most important part. "The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is not taught in the OT. In many places of the OT however, expressions are used in which some of the Fathers of the Church saw references or foreshadowings of the Trinity.

I'm guessing it's Chris partially quoting unavailable, dated but still-copyrighted publications again. These quotations are actually copied from the Watchtower. He does not have the publication himself and cannot check to see if the quotation was properly applied.

I can find NO information regarding that particular publication in Google - and that is surprising. It's not even listed in Google Books. Searching the public library of the nearest metropolis (which has a quite respectable collection), also no result.

After reconsidering, I realized that a Catholic work would almost certainly NOT have in the title the term "Roman Catholic". The title is **probably** incorrect, making the document impossible to find. So: I searched Google Books for "New Theological Dictionary".

There is only one, but it is not Catholic-specific and it does not have that many pages. Again: nothing at the city public library. You may have more luck finding it if you search for "New Theological Dictionary" and leave out the term "Roman Catholic".

P.S. There probably actually is (or was) a Catholic book entitled "something New Theological Dictionary". However, probably it dates to before ISBNs (I couldn't find it in the online ISBN database), and probably it is still under copyright (which is why it does not appear in Google Books). In my admittedly limited experience, Watchtower publications typically quote works of literature that date from about 1875-1975, and reference works from that period are going to be particularly difficult to find because reference works are often revised or replaced regularly.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
