No short answer here 1.Quiet. Sleeper cells are named so because they lie in wait. There was no true warning last time, outside some increase "chatter" omongst the forums and such that the CIA,FBI and NSA monitor.
They caught us completely off guard last time, that will be their intention again. 2. The USA has been destroying the leadership capabilities of Al Quaeda and related cells.
They been cutting off "some" of the flow of money to them, tracking every move and have arrected or killed many of the leaders of these organizations. 3. Our continued prescence in the Middle East, though causing problems for us,severely restricts the movements of the reamaining leaders and the cells that they control.4.
I believe that we've learned alot from that attack and all of the foiled attacks since then. Our allies have also remained vigilent,so worldwide mobility is restricted too. I'm certainly not an expert, but those are my assumptions.

My guess would be it is actually hard to plan and pull off an operation that big... I am assuming you mean large scale terrorist attack... One of the things that really surprised me about 9/11/01 was that the terrorists were able to pull off an attack this big without any of the group blowing it. What I mean is, try to get any 19 people together, agree on a plan, actually learn the skills necessary and proficiently (i.e. Piloting a passenger plane), and during all of the months that they worked and lived together toward this end, have none of the 19 either back out, make a mistake, or leak the information accidentally to anyone is amazing. It took years for them to pull this off.
One of them had an idea, and to slowly and carefully get the plan to the people who could finance it and make it happen, hand pick the people to pull it off, get them into the country, train them, and have none of them change their minds during the process and actually successfully pull off as much as they did surprises me. I don't think even they thought the entire buildings would collapse, making this attack even more successful then they even imagined. My guess would be that they have other plans for more attacks of this scale, but that it takes a lot of time (years) to actually put it together and pull it off. I think the time issue is not so much related to America's heightened security slowing them down, although I hope it makes things more difficult.
I think it has more to do with human nature, and getting another solid group together in an area of the world distracted by civil strife, war and disagreements to potentially put together another successful plan. Unfortunately, I think there will be more Islamic terrorist attacks on our country. There are so many in that area of the world who truly loath our country and way of life, and I think we only continue to intensify their passion to hate us and want to hurt us.
It is only a matter of time before the right combination of these people get together again with a good plan, financing and ability to pull it off. I am scared to think of what the next attack could be. I feel we are still very vulnerable to serious threats, like possible health crisises or, Heaven forbid, a nuclear terrorist attack.
Imagine if a well lead Islamic terrorist group gets together with North Korea's Kim Jong-Il. I believe time is the answer to your question. It just takes time.
I would like to say that it’s because our military has thwarted the terrorist organizations overseas, causing repurcussions for the terrorist cells in the U.S. I would like to say that it’s because our security has gotten tighter. I would like to say that it’s because our Department of Homeland Security (As useless as they may be) has finally done something right. Unfortunately I don’t believe any of those things are completely true.
I do think our military has done some good, but not enough to stop these jihadist asshats. I don’t think our security is much different nor will it be in the future because American’s are impatient and security has a direct impact on convenience. I certainly don’t the DHS has done anything overly wonderful as of late.
So why haven't we been attacked? It's simple, attacks take tons of planning. 9/11 was probably in the works for 10+ years.
I learned in the military that once the terrorists find a vulnerability they will formulate a plan then do test runs, then plan, and so forth until everything works correctly. A test run would be something like a pony call to 911. From a single call they can guage several different things like: response time and direction, which unit responds, force strength, weapons, how they are outfitted (kevlar and the like), etc.Oce they know that they can then begin to figure out how to outfit themselves.(i.e.
If the SWAT team shows, they know they will need armor piercing rounds. So the bottom line is that they haven't attacked again because they haven't finished planning it yet. Sources: Opinion .
I think our intelligence is very powerful I may be a very naive person, but it wouldn't surprise me at all what kind of thing are being used to find out plans of future terrorism by our government. When Reagan wanted the "Star wars" technology, and many people opposed it, I wondered if it was still being in place. The space shuttle made many missions a few years ago for which no one knew (at least the common American) what was the reason.
I just imagine that there are satellites, and survelience equipment in outer space, at space stations, or wherever, which keep track of many people. I was impressed at how quickly the intelligence in England caught onto the plot of the men who planned the three planes to explode over the Atlantic--going from the UK to the USA, and they were helped by intelligence in Pakistan. Our communication system is fantastic!
I'm sure as one little citizen of this great country, that I have no idea really of the magnitude of the US intelligence. I do question one thing----would this be different (Islamic terrorist attacks) if the US military was not in Iraq? I have no answers to that.
Maybe I should pose that question. So my guess is that "1984" is really here and Big Brother is active all over the world. Sources: personal opinion .
Attacks have to have a purpose. Terrorist attacks anywhere have to have a purpose or objective terroistists usually have a political or social objective and their attacks are meant to strike fear into their opponents to help bring about the objective they are after. I don't know what the real objective or desired results of the 9-11 attack was, I would suggest they weren't realized and future attacks would be pointless. It is also possible that the attck was a great mistakebringing to much attention to Islamic radicals hindering their operations around the world.
Do you think the United States has to be "t" again before many Americans admit that we are in a war with terrorists.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
