Why does battlefield 2142 keep resetting or turning off my computer?

Hi mate battlefield 2142 as you know is a online multiplayer game and I have a feeling its this side of the game thats causing the problems you are exsisting I had a similar problem infact with need for speed most wanted and the game would switch to the desktop with no warning both these games are released by electronic arts (EA) and looking on their support website I have seen other instances of situations like this try disabling your anti-virus scanner ,this can affect pc games especially if the anti-virus defenitions are updating also press ctrl-alt-delete and then to the processes tab,disable all processes except for explore. Exe,svchost. Ex and finally taskmgr.exe.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
