Why does Fort Worth have statues of panthers all over the city?

Fort Worth is nicknamed the Panther City...in 1800's a lawyer from Dallas reportedly claimed after visiting Cowtown things were so quiet he saw a panther sleeping on main street and that's how the nickname came to be. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
