http://www.gotquestions.org/religion-spi... "Religion is a set of beliefs and rituals that claim to get a person in a right relationship with God, and spirituality is a focus on spiritual things and the spiritual world instead of physical/earthly things." This means that you can attempt to be spiritual without being religious, and you can attempt to be religious without being spiritual (if the God you want to get right with is not a true god, that is.) But if you want to be a spiritually religious person, you have to first establish who the true God is, and discover what God requires of you to become spiritually alive and pleasing to Him. This leads to the next question What is true religion?
Does God desire religion or relationship? http://www.gotquestions.org/true-religio... "True religion is neither rules-based nor ritual-based. True religion is a relationship with God.
Two things that all religions hold are that humanity is somehow separated from God and needs to be reconciled to Him. False religion seeks to solve this problem by observing rules and rituals. True religion solves the problem by recognizing that only God could rectify the separation, and that He has done so."
The God of the Bible does not have hang-ups about the word 'religion' as we do, because we read what kind of religion is pleasing and acceptable to God (e.g. in 1 Timothy 5:4, James 1:16-27). This kind of religion is not about rituals. It's about how we live our lives so as to honour God.
Once we have true religion and God has made us spiritually alive, we will relate to God and to other people in a particular way. That means 'relationships' are involved. Christians can only relate to God through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the only Mediator between God and men.
We are called to have faith in Christ in order to become children of God. That is what the religion of Christianity is all about.
Relationship with God is the number one priority. Becoming overly religious is dangerous because you fall into legalism, meaning you focus more on following the rules than you do cultivating a relationship with God. That being said, the Bible is the word of God, and denouncing it is equally dangerous.
What I have learned in my walk as a Christian is that when I maintain my relationship with God, He works in me and changes my heart to reflect the fruits of that relationship (which is the process of sanctification). How can we enter into relationship with God? By acknowledging our sin, and believing that Christ interceded for us, and atoned for our sin.
The saying, "Let go and let God" is super cliche, but accurate nonetheless. Relationship with God is impossible without really letting go and giving full reign of our life over to God. Yes, I think they are missing the point.
You can become legalistic about not being legalistic :).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
