I try to squeeze in a few extra chores while I'm doing my daily work. For instance, after I've washed the dishes and dried off the countertops I'll use my wet cloth to wipe fingerprints off the cupboard doors and refrigerator doors, wipe off outlet covers, wipe down the front of the stove, stuff like that, that only takes an extra minute or two. Instead of trying to clean the bathroom all at once, I'll take minute to wipe down the sink and faucets after brushing my teeth at night, then maybe the next day spray the toilet and brush it out. It's easier for me to squeeze things in a few minutes at a time than to find a big hunk of time to do a whole room.
And I doubt that many houses are really "sparkling clean" unless a clean freak lives there or they can afford a maid. My house is presentable, but it sure doesn't sparkle! I like to live by the adage: "My home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.
" Maybe you just need to relax your standards a bit.
Sometimes the sparkling clean feeling for me comes only after the clutter is reduced. Often in the day to day grind I find myself letting extra things sit out where they don't belong or leaving an item in a room out of place rather than returning it to it's rightful spot. To give a more clean look, maintain more open space.
The floor seems cleaner when nothing is laying around. The kitchen counters look larger and cleaner when all the extra appliances etc are put away. You can do these things by making an extra quick pick up with a laundry basket if you have to many things to just grab and put away.
Toss out of place items in the clothes basket so the room is totally done in a short time. Just don't get in the habit of leaving the items in the basket for long periods of time because if you do, you have created a new problem by fixing the previous one.
No one who actually *lives* in their home has a sparkly clean house at all times. Remember, you're often seeing other people's homes when they are expecting guests. My home always looks way cleaner when I am having people over than on a "regular" day.
Like you, I do the basic daily stuff, but my home does not sparkle at all times. Occasionally, I am in the mood to super-duper clean (like today), and the house will look awesome for a week or so. This is always fleeting though because it takes so much time to maintain.
However, that's okay with me! I'd rather spend my time doing other things than investing the enormous amount of time it would take to keep a home looking pristine at all times. I keep my house clean and relatively organized, and that's good enough for me.
I used to try and get that sparkly clean feeling too and then I realized that my quest to clean was interfering with my life. I was so busy cleaning my house I wasn't living in it. I'd say keep up with your daily routine and maybe add an "extra" task a week or every few weeks.
One thing you really feel just needs a complete cleaning that you normally wouldn't do daily. Like for example.. washing the walls in the kitchen. They get greasy overtime especially near the stove, but you certainly don't need to clean them daily.
Take that one task you choose and just go white glove crazy. Last week I spent 4 hours really deep cleaning my bath room for example. Within a few months you'll notice an improvement in the over all clean, but not a decrease in your time to do other things really.
It seems house because (without quotes):. It seems like I can never get my house because (without quotes):.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
