Because he is old like me. Honestly, I don't know but the elderly should have regular check ups.

Dark circles around both eyes might indicate dehydration. Is he drinking an appropriate (not too little, not too much) amount of water? See the article below for more information.Com/article/dark-circles-under-eyes.

Thanks to everyone who replied. This has occurred about 4-5 times in the past couple of years and has affected both of his eyes, though individually. In at least two of the cases it darkened the entire area around the subject eye. It's almost as if someone punched him, which is what his cardiologist seemed to hint when we asked him about it.

Based on the doctor's response, I developed the notion that he may have essentially punched himself while sleeping, especially since my mother says he is sometimes extremely restless. However, with this hypothesis, one might think he would injure himself elsewhere as well. The good news is that it doesn't seem to hurt notably and diminishes in a week or so.

The vision isn't affected. We'll review further the suggestions you dear folks provided and see how things develop. Frankewie 3 days ago .

If all else fails, you may want to consider laser treatments for lightening (and in some cases eliminating) dark circles. Traditional skin-lightening products do not have any effect on dark circles unless they are caused by sun damage.
