Why does the minister always say 'i pronounce you husband & wife,' NOT 'wife & husband in a marriage ceremony?

Even if it's NOT a christian wedding, in most cultures/religions, when it comes to marriage, the man comes first and the woman comes second. Why? Why is it always 'i pronounce you man and wife' and not the opposite even today?

Why was it this way even in the past? Why the difference between the genders when it comes to this? What for?

Sigh. First of all, you clearly have never been to any sort of wedding other than Christian. Not all other religions say this.

Second, the minister will say whatever the couple asks him to say. It isn't always the man first these days. As for the olden days - well, Christian men wrote the marriage ceremony, so they placed themselves above women - even to the point of having the woman promise to obey him.

Those times are long gone. If the female doesn't like it, all she has to do is say so.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
