Why don't we build houses that are on flood plains to rise when rivers flood?

Yes there have been other recent flooding in Cumbria (and other places) but this is down to EXTREME weather which means places previously not likelyi to be hit by flooding, are. As said, the homes hit by this storm are not new builds. I have to say I'd think twice before moving into a home with a river or lake close by, or even a stream now, pretty as it might look normally.

Fact is we are not in 'normal times' now and these events are only going to become more frequent. Climate change is a FACT and we'd better get used to what's happening.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
