Justice Thomas was and remains completely unqualified for his post. It is clear that he avoids speaking to avoid the inevitable gaffs that would result if he did speak.
Whether you agree with him or not, Thomas has always been prone to writing his opinions rather than taking them to the press, and allowing for the rest of the Supreme Court members ask the questions when a case presents itself. If I look at the Supreme Court as it stands today, I would say the most outspoken member is Scalia, who has both spoken his opinion and is oft repeated by the press today. See: supremecourt.gov.
Perhaps he is busy being quiet so he has that skill honed for when he needs to be recusing himself or when he needs to be disclosing his wife's financial activities. I'm still not sure how he can get by without a slap on the wrist for not listing her income on his annual disclosure statement, especially since some of her stuff would likely be considered a conflict for things he does. Maybe Justice Thomas is silent so as to not draw much attention to himself. He will never outlive how suspect he is after the hearings on sexaul harrassment that he went through. After watching those hearings, it amazes me that he was ever confirmed.
He maybe a constitutional scholar with a brillant mind, but he will always remain under the cloud of being a sexual predator.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
