Why is Amazon defaulting to items sold by other companies when I try to purchase items?

For the past few weeks, when I try to purchase an item through Amazon it defaults to a seller that is NOT Amazon. To buy the item through Amazon I have to click on the "New and Used from" to see if Amazon sells the item. The items were in stock, so it looks like this is just a new policy that Amazon has.

I don't really like it because twice now I have received a BluRay that is not exactly as described (i.e. With other languages in addition to english on the covers). Anyone else experienced this?

These items are "defaulting" to other sellers, because the other sellers are offering the items for a cheaper price than what Amazon is, thus you are technically seeing the cheapest purchase price being currently offered at that particular moment. And like you have said, you are more than able to view the other sellers and select to buy the item from another seller, that you might have done business with in the past, or, I guess if you don't like any of the sellers, then you don't have to use the Amazon. Com website to buy that particular item.

No - and if I did, I'd be sending it back within an hour or two of getting it! Chances are they're rolling it over to someone else because Amazon gets a cut out of every sale sold by a seller listed on their site and if they can trick enough people they can make a pretty penny without doing a thing. I passed on getting something I wanted a couple of months ago when they were having one of their "Bargain DVD Sales" and the item I wanted was listed......then when I went to checkout, it was shown at a higher price from another seller.

I eventually wound up buying it from a reputable seller on eBay rather than getting hung up in this version of the old "bait and switch" game. So far, I haven't run into the exact problem you've mentioned, but thanks for the warning and good luck! .

Thanks! Yeah, I can't help but feel like they are trying to "trick me". I really only have seen it happen with media discs (DVDs, Blu-Rays, and a Wii game that I purchased).

I went back to look at it, and it seems as though it is defaulting to whoever is selling it the cheapest, which is a noble effort BUT I would rather pay the extra few cents (yes, it is that small of a price difference) to have an item sold directly by Amazon, who I know is a respectable seller and choose another seller if I feel that I would rather take the risk and have the item for their price. I understand that if an item is sold out Amazon will default to another seller, but as I said in the original post, the item that I purchased was in stock and I think that this is an unacceptable practice. If anyone would like to see an example, here is a good one:amazon.com/Christmas-Story-Blu-ray-Peter... says it is "Sold by Best Deals FBA and Fulfilled by Amazon." but if you click on the "42 new from $8.95", Amazon is the second seller and it is listed as "In Stock" for $.50 more!

This was one of the movies that I purchased that came with both English and French next to each other everywhere (apparently they are a Canadian company). This is NOT the exact product that they are showing in the listing -- there should be some sort of warning of that. I am beginning to lose trust in Amazon!

And by getting an item that Amazon is "fulfilling" for someone, there's no discount on shipping if you buy $25 worth of merchandise either. It looks like - since Amazon ships the material for the other seller (I think it's all sitting in a warehouse in the middle of Kansas) - they're listing it as being "in stock" since technically it is with it's being kept in the Amazon warehouse. (I'd love to see what a good lawyer could do with that!) I'd definitely be shipping it back and requesting a refund.

What they're doing is being totally unethical in their sales practices which I suppose, is what happens when your business gets to be a mega-business - you can put the screws to people and hope they don't say anything! .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
