That's not quite how it works. Cellular signals and data signals are not the same signal and don't necessarily use the same equipment. I wrote a rather lengthy hub called "The Sad State of Cellular Communications" which covers the signal and problems with the way it's done as part of the problem.
hubpages.com/t/1f28f4In a nutshell almost all signals come from cellular towers or base stations when are planted right here on mother earth. Satellites come into play for GPS, but GPS is not a talk, text, or data download signal; it's just for location and navigation.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
