Why is Chris Cuomo leaving Good Morning America?
Well that was sudden. Chris Cuomo announced this morning that tomorrow would be his last day on Good Morning America – but it's all good. Cuomo is leaving Good Morning America to co-anchor 20/20, a promotion for sure.
Cuomo will continue to work the desk on breaking news items, but you can bet you'll be seeing a lot less of him. "It is a dream job for a journalist like me, but it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family," Cuomo said today on "Good Morning America." Diane Sawyer recently rocked the airwaves with her announcement that she will be stepping away from Good Morning America. Sawyer had become a staple of the brand in her years as co-host, and it looks like ABC is going to cast against type. Rumors are swirling that political consultant – and former Clinton adviser – George Stephanopoulos will be named as Sawyer's replacement later today.
