Why is it African American, rather than American African?

My take on it is this African-American = You were born in an African country, then you immigrated to the U.S. and became a citizen. The term is *not* a descriptor of a person's skin color. Black American = You were born in the U.S. and your skin color happens to be black.

The hypenation thing is a matter of personal preference. Most black people prefer "black", and "AA was foisted upon them by (quelle surprise) white people. And it REALLY should be used the same way Italian American or Chinese Emerican is used (to specify an ethnicity), not as a synonym for "black" which is a race...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
