Why is it that whenever bowling is televised, the games are over 20 years old?

I don't know where you're getting that from. The few times I've randomly flipped by bowling on one of the ESPNs, the people look fairly modern. I haven't seen any odd 80s or 90s hairstyles for example.

And I know when I used to live in New England and the candelpin bowling matches were broadcast weekly, they were up-to-date, not from 20 years ago. Maybe you've just been really unlucky in trying to find it? For example, sports.espn.go.com/sports/pba/index shows that this years Empire State open is being shown on ESPN on December 8th.

What we're watching is the USBN Classics I do wish they’d televise some of the more modern matches...sometimes the bowling events are from back in the 70’s. I do have to admit that it’s a riot to see some of the hair and clothing styles from back then. We get to see the bowlers on tour, age right before our eyes.

Tonight we actually saw a telecast of a match from 2001. Now that the mens and womens leagues are no longer separate...I was hoping to see some of the women bowlers coming up the ranks and qualifying...competing right up there with the men. So far, I’ve only seen one.It’s still fun to see Norm Duke, Mika, Webber...and all of the favorites...even if they were tournaments from years ago.
