Why is MTV renewing the Real World Road Rules series?

MTV has announced that it has renewed its long-running reality TV series for four additional seasons, extending the reality TV series through its 26th season, and has also ordered four more The Real World/Road Rules Challenge editions that will extend the spinoff series through its 21st season, The Hollywood Reporter reported Monday. "MTV is proud to continue our relationship with The Real World's Bunim-Murray production company that stretches back over 15 years," MTV programming president Tony DiSanto said, according to the Reporter. "With each new season, the Real World franchise continues to evolve and captivate our ever-changing audience."

MTV debuted The Real World in New York in 1992 and is considered one of the pioneers of the current modern American reality television era. The Real World: Brooklyn, the show's 21st edition, premiered on January 7 and will air its season finale tonight at 10PM ET/PT.
