You may also notice that from time to time you have to get a damp rag and wipe the dust off the face of the glass screen too. These things are all related to the cracking sounds you hear. Basically, when you turn the set off the charge on the screen goes from strongly positive in electro static charge to strongly negative.
The negative charge draws in dust particles that may adhere to the screen surface. The particles of dust that don’t ahere are thrown back into the room when you turn the set on again and it slowly recharges the screen with a positive charge once again (35,000 volts worth of static! ).
The cracking sounds are due to discharge of static electricity into the air. Not dangerous or anything... not harmful to the TV either... just one of those things. You can take one of those "Bounce" (or other brand) dryer static cling treatments and wipe your TV screen down with it (dampened slightly).
That may reduce the static some. The best fix though is to buy one of the newer flat screen LCD/Plasma... make sure you get 1080P resolution (P is for "Progressive"... a better process for displaying "movie" frames in video). Also be sure you get 120 Hz or even 240 Hz for an even faster screen refresh rate... get it before the Superbowl tomorrow and you will see the ball fly through the air inch by inch... sports and fast moving things on TV are great on these new TVs... and no static snaps, crackles, and pops....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
