Dre's are over-hyped because they've been a heavily featured headphone in mainstream music often seen in many music videos. An example is with "Black Eyed Peas" and more recently with LMFAO. They've just been heavily advertised through many artists so thats how they made their popularity.
They're also well known because unlike actual high-end headphones, are placed in many general electronic stores. Specialty audio/music stores will rarely have Dre's in their inventory. Another thing is their look, its similar with what is catching peoples eyes today - streamlined, and very glossy (or a clean matte) with strong color accents.
Last thing is that general consumers don't look into other options. If its in the store, they'll often assume that its the best they can get. Ironically enough, even though its endorsed by Dr. Dre, there are a lot of owners who have not heard any of his music. In general, a lot of the real professional headphones have barely any exposer to the public because they don't need/want it.
They're quality speaks for itself as their reputation just gets passed on and on.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
