Well, the Republicans have been using him as sort of their philosophical touchstone for the last 5 or 6 years. In many ways, he is the 'philosopher' behind non religious based mainstream conservative political thought. And like Trump, he is a political outsider.
I think we non Trump conservatives find him appealing in that he isn't part of the power elite, he is soft spoken, and he has the ability back up his statements with reasoned thought.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
