If I had a dollar for every time this question has been asked, I'd be able to make a serious dent in my bills. There is Washington, DC. It was created from land taken from Maryland and Virginia, but the Virginia side was retroceded in 1846.
If you look at a map, you'll see that the District of Columbia is a little chunk of land carved out of Maryland and sits on the Potomac River. Maryland and Virginia are on the Atlantic Ocean. Washington, DC, which we often call "the District", is not IN any state at all.
It is its own jurisdiction, although Congress has the right to mess with decisions made by our City Council. Washington State is bordered by the Canadian province of British Columbia to the north, Idaho to the east, Oregon to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It's roughly 3,000 miles from Washington, DC.
I asked a question a few months back about if she should change the name of Washington DC, because it causes so much confusion. Everyone from this area said no. But, it is obvious that it still causes confusion.
See my original question below.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
