You are correct in saying that giving nonstop media coverage for barbaric acts, be they by domestic rightwing fanatics or foreign, simply encourages more such attacks---especially when the campaigning rightwing Republicans are all too ready (hair-trigger ready) to incite more violence by spouting and spewing of hate-speak rhetoric against all Muslims even though the nearly two billion Muslims who exist in the world are mostly peace-loving. The faces of those who do murderous acts should not be shown if they are dead or captured, so no publicity is given them. If there is a manhunt that is ongoing, then showing the perpetrators' picture is valid, but once captured or killed...why give any attention to the bad acts?
Acts of terror are framed in certain ways in the media. They've telivised a gif of the planes hitting the Twin Towers millions of times to justify war in Iraq. We need a responsble, adult minded public funded news medium.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
