Why was the Elroy-Sparta line abandoned-because it tied in with the Winona & St. Peter and the traffic was too low after the bridge was taken out?

It was taken out because the C&NW was agressively abandoning all trackage except for heavy duty main line trackage. They figured that the Milwaukee-Wyeville-Winona 1911 route was desireable. Any route with tunnels is immediately suspect.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
