Why was Vigo running a bath at the beginning of The Road? You could see that there was fire outside their window but his wife was confused?

Spoiler>>> He ran a tub full of water - not for a bath but so that they would have water before it all got contaminated. It was just as the bombs were going off. Scared & already pregnant.

There was very little food so she sacrificed her own life so that there would be more for the boys. She was so miserable & depressed for bringing the baby into the world that had just been destroyed. She did not want either of them to suffer watching her die so she went out in the freezing cold with barely any clothes on because she believed that it wasn’t really suicide that way.

She wanted to do it long before so the guys could have lived there longer since they would have her portion of food & water. They did not eat People! So the was no reason for her to put them thru the pain of watching her die since they wouldn’t be the ones using her as food.

Too bad that I no longer have the copy I just borrowed. I wish to watch it again before answering. I understand that the couple lived their lives indoors, hiding in the confinement of a small room that I believe was a hotel or motel room or something.

Notice the stacks of bottled water and other supplies around , the fire outside, and Vigo seemed to don't care, his wife seemed to be so bored of not being able to go outside, that made me conclude that the scene setting was after the nuclear bombing, when everyone was trying to cope up and survive, make do with what was left or steal what others have. Eventually his wife got pregnant and after giving birth her boredom grew and decided to leave. Of course we knew then that she didn't last long outside, because other survivors are hostile and so the story goes... About your question, Vigo is running a bath while theres turmoil outside because its normal everyday thing outside, and they wouldnt want to get involve because it might ruin their hiding.

S wife was not confused, but instead bored, bored of being inside so long.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
