Why would my foot swell if I have a splint on for sprained ankle?

I sprained it on Friday and went to ER-splinted it but now it's swollen more than before and under the ankle bone is really dark bruise in a line down foot,it's burning and top of foot is turning colors! Maybe you should let a doctor take a look at it again. The coloration could be just from the Bruising. You need to make a doctor appointment so that He/she can determine what else could be wrong with your foot.

Prop your foot up and try not to put to much pressure on it. Also use an ice pack. And make a doctor appointment to have your foot looked at.

You need to ice it and keep it elevated to keep the swelling down. Ice for 20 minutes on, then off for at least 20 minutes. Repeat as needed to keep swelling down.

Also elevate your foot above the level of your heart. Just because it's splinted doesn't mean you should be walking 10 miles a day, just so you know. You're still supposed to stay off of it as much as possible.

I had an Ace bandage wrapped around my knee, not all that tight, and after a couple of days, my leg below the knee started to swell all the way down to my ankle. Doctor said to loosen, or take off the bandage and ice my leg. The slight compression of the bandage was enough to restrict blood flow.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
