Will a 12 volt ceramic-type heater melt the cigarette lighter wiring in a 1987 Subaru Wagon?

The 12 volt wiring from your cigarette lighter in made to accommodate low voltage requirements ONLY In the instance where your using a 12 volt ceramic heater if it is made to plug into your cigarette lighter then it probably will be OK. The manufacturer of this device takes responsibility for this when they manufacture it this way However in the case of much larger ceramic heaters which do NOT come with a cigarette lighter plug and actually have thick gage wires attached then the instructions should recommend that you wire it more directly from your battery and or your fuse panel, it is important that the fuse assembly which comes with the device is also used. The fuse will blow or burn out if too high a voltage or if a feed back from shorting occurs, this will save you from an unfortunate accident Please always refer to the instructions that come with your device.Do not take any shortcuts or the liability will fall back on you.

Also it is best to have a licensed service dept. Install the devise if it needs to be installed by hard wiring, that way they are insured to do such repairs and or installations.

Have either a wiring problem or a ground connection problem. And that the tailgate has a separate harness lead that comes from the relay. So look for those points which are common to the three passenger doors.
