Will a dead cmos battery cause a computer to not boot up?

It should be a coin cell "CR2032", it will be stamped on the battery when you remove it to replace the RTC battery, it is under the hard drive cover on the bottom. HTH.

This case is nothing to do with CMOS battery. Go to Control Panel / Date and Time Go to section Change Time Zone. Set your location time zone.

For Chicago it is UTC - 06.00. Click Apply and OK. You are done.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
