Not a great idea. It's not going to collapse, but it will put a strain on the floor and walls, perhaps leading to a gradual sagging and cracks in the walls. Much better to put the safe on a concrete floor.
If you can't do that, put the safe where two outside walls meet. Almost all of the force will go down the outside walls and very little will transfer to the floor joists.
I appreciate your reply. It seems the site would only allow me to write so many words so I was cut short on my question. There are NO basements or concrete floors where I live!
When I say it is in the corner of the room it is right where the foundation walls make a corner. Outside wall! We only have crawl space under the house.
This is on the first floor. Thanks again! Drummin4jesus 4 months ago .
If you can get under the house and put a footing under the corner, that will help prevent future sagging.
Please see my reply to my first answer to this question. TU! Drummin4jesus 4 months ago .
Ancient hacker gave good advice - being at an outside corner gives it better support then in the middle of the span; but over the long term it may still warp the joist.
When I can I will get under the house and add a support beam. Thanks! Drummin4jesus 4 months ago .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
