Will putting Windows XP on my Vista laptop void my warranty?

I bought a laptop 2 (From Best Buy) days ago. In the past 48 hours, it's been restored to factory defaults 3 times. Vista is absolutely horrible, I'm tired of it.

If I format it and install XP, will that void my warranty, or does that cover the hardward regardless of what's installed on it? Thanks Asked by jrkeyboard 41 months ago Similar questions: putting Windows XP Vista laptop void warranty Computers > Software.

No Any Microsoft software will not void the warranty. Did Best Buy do the restore? Do they know about the problem.

Even Vista should not be that crappy. Sounds like something isn't working right. XP is going to cost you some dough, unless you just happen to have it laying around.

For the money difference of buying XP, take it back to Best Buy and see if it can be upgraded to XP. If not, get your money back and order one from Dell with XP. Or whichever brand you prefer.

Get XP Pro while you're at it. You never regret buying the best. Boatman's Recommendations Microsoft Windows XP Pro X64 Edition SP2B for System Builders OLD VERSION Amazon List Price: $199.99 Average Customer Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (based on 8 reviews) .

For absolute certainty, read your warranty terms & conditions But I am 99.9% certain it will not. There is no way that XP could damage any hardware component.

Have you contacted the manufacturer for tech support on why their computer keeps having problems, new out of the box? Microsoft has stopped backing that system. Also Vista is the new one that is out. I have had it for over a year, no blue screens, no crashes just clean windows.

You need at least 2 Gigs of memory for your computer to work correctly. If you don't have it, get it! I konow it says that Vista will work on 1 Gig but that has problems.

The more memory the better off you are. If you want a good computer you can not go cheap. Cheap computer have cheap memory and Graphics in them and ETC.

Like I aid I have Vista it works great and I don't think that the people that complain about it don't have a computer that can handle it. It takes lot's of Memory. Please remember as of June 30th Microsoft no longer backs XP.

Buy it will not void your warranty to chang to XP, but again WHY! .

3 Delvet, you're wrong on MS support. MS has stopped selling XP to the public as of 6/30, but will continue to support it until 2014. It will also continue to sell XP Home for tiny cheap laptops like the Asus EeePC until mid-2010.
