Although the general consensus is that changing information, whether it be RSS feed, News feed, or just an ordinary update will cause the searchbots to visit, I am sceptical on all three counts. I use Market Samurai to test out these theories and as far as I can see, it is a fallacy that any 'updates' cause the searchbot to visit.
Evidence: MS shows me the number of days since a bot updated. I have a /latest/ RSS feed set in all my hubs. I have created hubs over the last 2 weeks, about 1 per day.
I also have News feeds in most hubs. I also have done changes to older hubs. The number of days since the Googlebot visited my oldest 11 hubs is between 33 days and 6 days.
This would seem, on the face of it, to show that whatever you do to try to "force" the searchbots to visit, it has little effect.
However, you should not forsake RSS feeds as they have uses other than the one you are trying to use them for.
Yes, the RSS capsule can be used to keep the content fresh. A search engine does not "know" how the page is composed or how the web server generates the page. It can only see the content of the webpage and it will see that it is different every time (due to the RSS capsule or other capsules, like the news capsule).
That's great to know, thank you for the info simeonvisser!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
