Honestly, I've always been a believer that a show is leaked to increase word of mouth. To give some examples, both Dexter and Weeds were leaked two years in a row, with the common belief that Showtime put them out there for viewing. Flash forward to a few months later, and there's Weeds and Dexter at the top of the cable ratings.
The same effect was felt with Heroes, as it leaked weeks beforehand, only to have people flock to the show in droves. And if you chose not to watch the show's premiere, you were left with incorrect assumptions about the show, as there were changes in between the leaked version and the actual aired version, such as Issac's hand. So yes, I fully expect people to still watch "Caprica" even if there is a leaked version.
Be ready to be surprised how many people bootleg a show, then how well it does when it runs on the network that paid for it. The BSG miniseries aired first in the United Kingdom|UK, then there was a (IIRC) ~ six month wait for it in the United States|US. People who like science fiction probably have a higher propensity to figure out the (then) difficult bittorrent process.(or IRC trading or newsgroup binary downloading) The US network was horrified at the number of people in the US who were raving about how good it was."How could they know this?
How did they see it? Will they not watch it when we run it?" Turns out, it didn't matter, the BSG miniseries was one of the highest rated shows ever (um) shown on that network.
See: acko.net/blog/the-reality-of-illegal-tv-... and another link I can't find ... from 2004 or so "how bittorent saved BSG" or "how BSG launched bittorent" or something. Might have been Variety. In short: Yes. Yes i'll watch it.
On my Televisions|TV.
When it comes to projects with David Eick and Ronald D. Moore, leaked versions of programs are likely to have no connection with what is officially released. The death of Starbuck was one disinformation operation that they successfully waged.
Who is to say that a leaked Caprica wouldn't be the same sort of thing? Yes, I still watch if by some happenstance that leaked version popped up. I'd be mightily interested in what differed.
I stay away from leaked versions normally because of that factor, though.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
