Wives taking their husbands last names..what is your opinion?

Usually its to preserve the family name. Usually the woman who does this is very proud of the family she came from. Celebrities often keep their made up last names because that name has status for whatever she is famous for.

Usually the children will have the mother's maiden name as their middle name. This enables them to share in their mother's fame.

I'm part Asian, and women from my culture keep their last names when they marry. In other situations, women are already established in their professions (e.g. doctor, attorney, etc) and keeping their names makes better sense. I strive for equality, so I think the best solution is for both the wife and husband to each keep their own names or hyphenate their names together and to give their kids both their names.

Traditions come and go. Just look at slavery, segregation, and women remaining virgins till marriage. Why on earth would we retire these traditions?

Times change. Just like it's a tradition for men to pay for all dates, but how many men actually do this nowadays? Think about it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
