A woman has to think about where she will be when her child is graduating from HS or college. Will you be able to relate to your child's friends' parents and peers? My only child came along naturally before my 44th B-day, and that has had its challenges. It has all worked out, but your kids can be sensitive about age.
Just because a woman can bear children late in life w/ medical advancements, doesn't mean she should.
If a woman feels too old to give birth, then she's too old, I guess. I don't think it has anything to do with actually being old, but it has to do with the readiness to go through the whole process of raising a child. What is "later in life" anyway?
A friend of mine who's forty says she doesn't want a second child because she's too old, and another friend gave birth of a little girl at the age of 39, and her third girl was born when she was 41. The one with three kids looks younger than the one having just one kid (physically and mentally)!
That's a question that only you and your doctor can answer. Every woman is different both in overall health and reproductive health. While some women can't safely give birth past 35, others may be able to go well beyond that.
The oldest woman I know to give birth was 52 -- and she had twins. They were her first children, natural birth, no complications, the children are healthy and two years old now.
My mother was 35 when she had me, and I myself have a daughter, and am still finishing my degree. Out of personal experience, I guess I'd say the best time would be when you are old enough to have an independent and stable home environment, but young enough to ensure your health and the health of your child.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
