Would it be a good idea to try and find my sons father who has been absent in is life since he was a small boy now that My son has had no contact with his father since he was 3 and now he is 35,he really wants to meet him, should I as his mother try and find this man for him or should he do it himself have already done some searching with no luck, and think maybe if its not done soon his father will have passed on. Many things If you go to an adoption service they have programs that help the parent or kid find their parent or kid they may help you even if your child was not adopted . There is also searching him on Google? That might help.
But if your really desperate you could pay the news paper to put a add in there saying looking for father or ask a local T.V. station to mention that your looking for him? Just some ideas! Hope this helps!

Help him......... one way or the other. I'm amazed that you wonder if you should. It's human nature to be curious of your begginings.
Reality check: one of you parents will have to own up for not being there for your son while he was growing up. Was the father kept at distance? Was it his own decision not to be part of your son's life?
Did you make a decision not including the father? Does not matter now who's at fault but the one that is will be judged. I'm not looking for my father but now, my brother in his late 60's resents that because he lived in another country he did not have the opportunity that I had to get family tree information from my parents.
Now I took up the task to write pages and pages sharing with my brother everything our parents said a long time ago (they are deceased), not even knowing what was fact or fiction. I check on AV while on breaks from writing to the government of Austria and Germany trying to track down family information back to the begginning of 1800's. My brother has been sick and it comes accross that it is important for him to know.....so I plug along.
We have the right to know our history so your son had the right to find his father even if he no longer is alive. Maybe new siblings will populate his life and make it fuller. He has the right to own that information.
I hope he can forgive the one that broke the link.
Let him do the work as you provide help and information that you have. Don't withhold information, but you can only do so much. Additionally, if your son is having such trouble finding the guy, consider that he might want to not be found.
Or he's dead.
1 It is up to you....He can't blame you if you can't find him. You could hire someone to find him. I think kids are curious, but his dad may not want to see him.It is a risk.
Best wishes.

2 Maybe i'm well out of line here because im guessing you know (or used to know) the father so I apologise if this sounds offensive, but did you hear about the story recently where somebody in your sons situation spent years looking for his father, and when he found him he discovered that his father was none other than the mass murderer Charles Manson! Obviously this is a very extreme case but I guess it just points out that you need to be prepared for the unexpected...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
