Stefani Germanotta was an aspiring singer/songwriter, a musician who reminded more than a few people of Norah Jones. She had heart, soul, and integrity. Unfortunately, Stefani is long gone and in her place we get another pop icon, a personality without a person.
A personna created by handlers and publicists and computers. Lady Gaga has taken the place of a promising young artist and left us instead with a shell of nothing, but that's the way Stefani wanted it. She obviously wasn't interested in being herself, but preferred to become a cartoon character, a buffoon, a caricature of everything that is wrong with pop music today.
She can sing, she can write songs, she can play piano, she could have made a living as a musician. Now she is as far from being a musician as she can be.
Singing is not all that is required to be a mainstream success. Actually its a very small part of it. Auto tune is a very sophisticated process, being talented has nothing to do with being on television.
There are a million people in the world who can sing and play piano, she is just one of the many. So why is lady gaga on the today show when her skills are similar to mine? Why am I playing in my bedroom and she is playing for a couple million people?
Well she looks crazy and she is a character on television. She may not have her own sitcom but she lives the life of a cartoon to us. Just like homer always eats doughnuts and gets himself into sticky situations, lady gaga will always dress weird and be outlandish.
This is why she is successful and no longer playing coffee shops. In my opinion it has nothing to do with her music. The first thing they ask her in interviews is about her outfits, pretty young girls have been writing pretty songs for many years, this is no longer impressive. It is a matter of opinion whether or not her current persona is more respectable.
I would say it is. Even though it is seemingly simple to dress silly and have everyone love you, its not. I would much rather have pop icons be like comic book characters than average joes.
There will always be the girl at the coffee shop if you want raw talent. Even though she seems more talented in the video @keepontryin posted, she is much more entertaining in the video you posted. That is what it comes to in the end: You cannot be a successful act and not be entertaining.
Playing piano and singing is no longer entertaining to the masses. Everything has been done in the music world so people cling to things that are slightly different. She may just be an off shoot of Madonna, but the world needs another pop icon.
You can't get there on voice alone. In conclusion, no she would be a miserable failure if she went back to her old persona. No one cares about music in the televised world. She wanted to be mega famous and she did it, its not like she was walking around in glittery dresses with wigs and someone said were gonna make you a star.
She was an average person who took this route to fame, she has already tried making it on talent alone. It is just that mainstream music couldn't really care less about talent.
I honestly don’t know how Lady Gaga succeeds as any kind of singer. Everytime I listen to one of her songs I feel like an old fogey who has to shake their head and comment on kids these days. I’ve listened to just enough songs to believe that she has very little actual talent and has made her name based more on being as odd as humanly possible and using quite a bit of electronic adjustments in her music.
She doesn’t strike me as someone who would be able to sit down and sing one of her songs and have the same sort of production value or appeal. This is what I think of when I hear the words “mainstream musicâ€. She will always be known as someone on the outside of that genre and I think it’s where she fits.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
