My dad had the seed treatment about 8 years ago and he's been fine since He would have been about 63 or 64 at the time. S PSA levels do vary but ultimately it turns out to have been a good choice in his case. He was very concerned about the potential side-effects from conventional surgery, so he got lucky with this because it was a fairly new treatment at the time.As I recall, he was very uncomfortable for the first few days after implantation but then was fine.
However, I've got to say that they caught things early and that may account for his success. What I've read is that it's not the most successful treatment out there for the general population or when the cancer is fairly advanced, but it's very good for early detection cases. He still gets a little concerned about the possibility of cancer re-developing, but like I said he's been fine since and he monitors his situation carefully and regularly.
It worked for him, so I would definitely suggest pursuing it. Good luck! Sources: My experience .
Seed Implants I would definitely go with seed implants. There's too much risk of postsurgery impotence (though doctors deny this, patients complain of if with great frequence); and the seed implants are a much less invasive procedure.
Successful for us My father opted this method because he has other health problems which made conventional surgery out of the possibilities. It worked for him and it has been three years now with no reoccurance.
2 PSA was 8.0, biopsy showed cancer cells with gleason rating of 8. No symptoms, and prostate is not enlarged. I am 75 years old, but in good health.
Urologist suggested surgery (many times not done for my age group). Radiologist suggests radiation. I am leaning toward the seed implant due to faster recovery time (also lower cost).
As I understand it, chances of erection and continence problems are greater with surgery also. I also understand that after radiation further surgery is not possible, however at my age that may be somewhat mute? Was interested in comments from others who have been in a similar situation.
Thank you for your reply.

Looking for answers about the PROLIEVE treatment for prostate.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
