Would world peace be achievable if an extra terrestrial race from another world was threatening?

I wish I could say yes, but I doubt it would happen. I think a lot of countries would try to defend themselves without caring about others. I can picture nukes being shot at an alien ship while it is over some other country because said country wants to destroy it before it gets to them.

Not a chance. Everyone would start launching nukes and eradicate our planet for them. We can't even get the two parties in ONE country to agree on a budget and you think they are going to save us when the aliens come knocking?

It does seem to be the case that people band together when there is an Other present and I've always through the only thing that would really bring the entire human race together would have to be an outside threat. Adrian Veidt seemed hold this view, too.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
