My father actually took in an abandoned raccoon years and years ago. Probably before there were laws against this. Of course, he would have never took one into his home if the animals|animal had a mother.
I don't think it's a really wise idea. I think in situations like this, it is best to keep from domesticating the animal the best you can, yet help it survive until it can be released into the wild. In some areas breeders have pet raccoons, as they are no illegal everywhere.
However, people should be aware that raccoons are very prone to biting. I wouldn't have one especially if I had small children. They can live for up to 15 years, so it's a very long commitment.
You would have a hard time finding a replacement home for the pets|pet and at this point they are not going to survive in the wild. I would never take in a raccoon from the wild as they are notorious for carrying rabies. It just doesn't seem to be a good idea from any angel in my opinion.
We actually don't have raccoons here, so my experience with them is nonexistent. However like any wild animal it's generally a bad idea to try to make pets of them unless you have the training to do so. While any animal can become semi-domesticated, you don't take the wild out of them ever and they can be dangerous.
On raccoons in particular I wouldn't just because this show I saw, the monsters inside of you, a little baby was playing at a park and contracted some parasite that lives in raccoon poop...it didn't kill the baby but it did make it attack it's brain and cause mental retardation. Scary thought. Thinking about what it could have inside of it would be enough for me to not take the chance, biting habits or not.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
