I have a few outside of my ears (and about 24 in my ears, combined). My septum is my favorite, since I think it looks cute, it requires no maintenance, and I can flip it up at work, so no one knows it's there. I also have a micro dermal implant in my chest (the photo is not me, fyi).
I like that one too because I'm not comfortable wearing necklaces usually, but the piercing is about where a pendant would fall. That one can be annoying though because I get asked constantly how it stays in, and I get sick of explaining it (yes, my fault for having it! ).
I like piercings a lot. I'm planning to start taking my earrings out a bit at a time, to make myself more professional looking, and will have them all but gone (maybe 3-4 per side) by the time I finish grad school, but I'll keep my nostril screw (actually gaining acceptance as professional) and my septum definitely. My micro dermal I'm torn about because I can cover it up, but it will eventually need to come out.
Of course, that could require a little snip to get out... I used to have my navel done three times and my eyebrow twice. I liked those, but my body did not. They all started to reject at various times.
I actually feel better without navel jewelry, because it could be uncomfortable, but every once in a while I'm tempted to just get one done there. My only "will not do" is around or in my mouth. While I think lip piercings (particularly the bars that go straight through) are cute, oral piercings can chip your teeth and cause your gums to recede (I've had that corrective surgery and it sucks!).
I'm also sort of needing to admit that I'm getting too old and too deep into the white collar world for those...sad!
I already do have body piercings...although I must confess that once you have one, they become extremely addicting. It is often tempting to get more and more, but it is also a pain when you have to go to the doctor or have a medical procedure, and they want you to take everything out. For some body piercings, taking the body jewelry out can cause the hole to close up rather quickly or require a great deal of assistance to get the jewelry back in place.(A good piercing studio will gladly help you get your jewelry back in, but it is often embarrassing to have to ask.
I have my eyebrow pierced, my nose pierced, and my lip pierced. These piercings I can easily take out and put back in if I need to look more professional for something business related or I am having X-rays done. However, I do have a couple of other piercings in locations that I would rather not mention here that are a major pain to have to take out and put back in.
I once heard a story about a 62 year old man that had a double scrotum piercing. He went in to have a CAT scan, and the technician asked him to remove his body jewelry.(Hospitals keep a special tool kit on hand for body jewelry removal. ) Anyway, the man was unable to remove his jewelry from his jewels on his own and had to ask the technician for help.
(MOST technicians or even nurses will NOT do this for you, so be prepared for this if you do have piercings.) I am really happy with all of the piercings that I have (five total, excluding my ears), and I do not think that I will get any more, but I do think that more people should really think about the consequences of certain piercings before they get them done. I am not trying to discourage anyone from getting piercings, but you should realize all of the problems that you may run into.
I have had a few that were not in my ears. I had a belly button piercing about 10 years ago, and 6 or 7 years ago had y tongue pierced. But I think I'm done.
I'd like to add a few more tattoos to my "gallery" but no more holes, thanks. I think that piercing has taken on a whole new meaning. People are turning themselves into swiss cheese.
I would never get piercings. I don't like them and think those face ones are ridiculous. Women can get them on their bodies and still look good.
I never will. I dislike them for just about every reason there is. I think they're an unnecessary expense, I don't think they're attractive and I also don't like how they make people look strange, unusual or "alternative".
If a male has facial piercings, they'll simply never look the same in a suit ever again. Their professionalism is history. I sometimes wonder if people feel pressure to modify their bodies because they feel powerless in terms of influencing the world around them, but I also admit that I probably don't understand the psychology behind it.
Also, while I still don't love the idea of women getting things like this, I am willing to admit that society views women with tattoos and piercings in a much better light. For example, women can get belly button piercings and still be attractive and "mainstream".
I do have a navel piercing.. I don't think i'd ever do my nose, lip or eye brow or anything though. I just don't thik their attractive.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
