I know how much you love beer and I think I am safe in assuming you would go to great lengths to make sure the beer that was yours was well protected but I think even you might think twice before jumping on a moving SUV as the beer thieves drove away with their cold and frosty beverage loot. I think if I had to choose between this good Samaritan receiving a Medal for his foolish heroics or a straight jacket for the outright insane methods of beer retrieval he used in catching the thieves I would opt to give him the jacket because most stolen consumables are easily replaceable as well and not worth risking ones life for. Imho.
So, the perpetrator grabbed two twelve packs, ran out of the store, took off in an SUV, and was being pursued by the clerk. The clerk is a guy who is apparently capable of holding onto the roof rack of the SUV (which at one point reached 80 MPH), and at the same time managed a call to the authorities. Taking into account all of the above, especially that the perpetrator was able to make it out of the store and into the SUV while being pursued by such a robust clerk, we can reasonably assume the beer he grabbed was not a heavy two twelve packs of bottles, but a much lighter two twelve packs of cans.
Since most canned beer sold in convenience stores is of the cheaper rice and corn with some barley variety, we can also reasonably assume that the merchandise taken was probably a Coors, or Anheiser Busch product, or its equivalent. Therefore, considering the quality of the beer stolen, my answer is no. I would not have run after them.
That beer was not worth saving. He does however deserve some sort of recognition and I definitely appreciate what he had to say about the store owner. You don't have to be crazy to be a convenience store clerk, but it sure helps.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
