I will apply this to some Christmas gifts I just received. I was asked what gift cards I would like, and I did mention a few. It IS fun to get what you ask for, but another gift really stood out as being "something surprising and new that you never realized you wanted".
My son-in-law Michael has been taking a real interest in the articles I've been writing this past year, and at Thanksgiving he asked me to bring about a half dozen different types to show him a variety of what I am writing. I did that. For Christmas he presented me with a large purple (my favorite color) photo album that he had "converted" into a place to display my articles!
He put each of those articles into a separate sleeve and said I can write on the tabs the website and then put representative samples in each of the sleeves. The best part was that he had "Publications by Jackie" printed on the cover! Since I have no desire to write fiction, and especially not a published book as so many writers attempt to do, I said this was a way that I now have my own "published book"!
I never thought of doing that, so I was absolutely delighted with what he came up with.
Depends which is the best option. If asked to choose between the two, I'd weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of each before deciding. Having wanted something for a while doesn't mean that there can't be anything better out there, but the fact of something being new doesn't necessarily mean it is better either..., well that's wonderful and welcome, but it's not manditory...just very cool.
Sometimes it is really nice to find what you are looking for. When I am hunting for antiques and have been looking for something for a really long time it is nice to finally stumble across it in the most unlikely place. Then again, I also like to be surprised and find something I never thought to look for.It usually leads me to search for other things.
Antiques really are my addiction, that and the internet. As another example, think about when you finally find someone who is special to you and how that feels. Sometimes it seems like you have been looking forever and then they turn up, other times you meet someone who you never thought would interest you and you are surprised by how close you become.
Where relationships are concerned, I would be happy to have it either way, because in both situations you have found someone important, be it a lifetime friend or a significant other.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
