Writers: Would you name something after your story's character(s)? Some other Q's too?

Not fair! I would do the one I'm working on now, except that nobody has names in it, so...yeah. I guess I'll go for the first one I wrote that I think is good enough to publish: The Soldier.

I came up with the MC's name while I was at work one day. It's the last name of one of the Real Estate agents I work with and it's just cool: Nyiri. I actually saved it a long time before I thought her up, but as soon as I realized that she was an Inuit living a thousand years in the future, I knew it was the name for her.

Cade - I just needed a unique name for a monster with a heart. (yes, I twisted Beauty and the Beast.) I remembered my favorite villain from Planet of the Apes was General Thade...I played around with it and looked it up on a naming website, and voila! I actually needed close to forty names for this story.

Since it took place so far in the future, I spent a lot of time looking for unusual names that still sounded like names. Some of the Beasts are named after plants. Some have human names.

Some have names that I completely made up, and some I worked at so they would suit the Beast's personality. And it was so much fun! Although, given the choice, I don't think I'd want to create quite that large of a cast again...

I give my characters these really stupid names just to hold places, then as I write the name becomes there's and I can no longer find the heart to change it. So they always end up with the dumbest things. I have Kimmie, Big Texas (nickname), Lore, Flare, and Strawberry.

I always want it to be something awesome and great, but I always get to attached to the placeholders. Ah, oh well, I kind of like it better that way. It makes it interesting.

My new main character is simply George.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
