You stumble upon some information indicating that the man that you are dating is a registered sex offender, what do you do?

Be up front and ask him about it. It would come out one way or another and it would be best to get it out of the way. The longer you wait, the more you have invested in this, and if what he has done is unforgivable in your eyes, end it before you waste more time.

Also, it may not be that big of a deal, many times people hear sex offender and think "child molester" or "rapist"; but, I believe in some states that being arrested for public urination will land you with a sexual offender rap.

I would first check to see what the offense was. I have heard of people before who were a registered sex offender because they did something like pee outside of a church, got indecent exposure. There are also the cases where like a 19 year old is dating a 17 year old and her parents freak out.It all depends on what the offense was, if it was a child molester there isn't much you could do but leave them and keep your kids ( if you have any ) away from them.

I say that because if they have been released from prison and are registered that means they are following the law in what they are supposed to do, which means there isn't anything you can do to them legally unless they are breaking one of their probation terms, if they are you could call the cops.

It would depend on the circumstances of the offense, how serious it was and whether it was repeated. Hanging a sex offender tag on someone is pretty serious stuff, and it isn't always deserved, as @justme1 points out. Of course, continuing to date a known sex offender could cause issues between myself and loved ones who didn't approve of him for that reason alone.

That wouldn't necessarily cause me to end the relationship, but it's a possibility I'd have to take into account.

I would look at the information and then decide. Never continue to date a pervert who messes with kids or rapes another, break those off right away.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
