A couple of screws fell into the lint trap of the dryer?

Similar questions: couple screws fell lint trap dryer.

I wouldn't worry As long as you can get the lint trap back in, I wouldn't worry about the screws. They'd only be a problem if they dislodged and got into the mechanism, which is not likely. Most of what's inside a dryer is empty space, and they'll probably just fall to the bottom.

If you're really worried about it, you should be able to pull the dryer away from the wall, disconnect the vent pipe, and have enough wiggle room to reach them. At worst, you could remove the top or back of the dryer. This would, of course, involve removing more screws.

I've got a telescoping magnetic filching tool that works well for me when I lose screws and other metal parts in tight places. Sounds like that's what you are going to try. If that isn't it, they sell them at hardware stores, and they're handy to have.

Probably not, but read the whole answer. I hate having missing screws or stuff where it does not belong, but a couple of screws may not cause any problem other than rattling. However, since I don't know the model of dryer you have, I can't be certain.

You should be able to figure it out after you read this answerI am assuming that they are small steel screws, not some plastic variety that might melt. I also recommend unplugging the dryer before you work on it. The air path in a dryer usually comes from the air in the room the dryer is in, generally near the front bottom of the dryer. It goes through a fan, then crosses a heat exchanger, either wire coils or gas, and blows into the outside of the drum at the bottom, lifting the clothes as they spin up.

The air then goes out through the lint filter and out the exhaust vent tube to the back of the dryer. Lint filters are generally in one of two locations, either at the bottom of the front door of the dryer or beside or behind the dryer drum on the top of the dryer. If at front door:This will be easiest to remove the screws, as all you need to do is make sure the screws fall to the bottom of the exhaust vent and then let them roll out the back of the tube.

An easy way to remove stuff caught in the vent trap is to disconnect the dryer vent tube and lean the dryer back. Things like screws just roll right out. Dryers are relatively light, so this is pretty easy.

It should take a screwdriver and about 5 minutes or so of you time. If at the top, beside or behind the drum:In this case, a potential problem is that the screws might fall such that they lodge on the back of the drum. This would be a problem, and might cause real damage to your dryer.

Make certain the screws roll back to the exhaust tube and get them out of the dryer using the same method I describe above. Now clean the exhaust tube:With the vent loose, take the opportunity to clean any lint coating the vent tube, both inside the dryer tube (entering from the back) and in the tube going out through the wall. Make a special check where the tube ends on the outside of the house.

It is important to keep the vent tube clear. Lint buildup adds to you energy costs, causes heat to build up (harming your clothes) and can cause fires..
