Is it true that birds will use dryer lint in their nests?

I remember hearing this as a kid and want to know if it's true or a myth. I put some outside yesterday and am now wondering if all I did was litter!(If you don't have a real answer, please feel free to make fun of the subject!) Some say yes, others say no... I think this has been a question of the ages. There was another question asking the same thing early 2008 I think. No one had any direct answer. So I searched a little and found a toss up answer for the question.

There are arguments against and others say yes though no one knows for sure. There are people that throw their hair to the wind, the birds will use it to bind their materials together. Much like using hair from horses and other critters.

I think they will use what ever they find as a nesting material! The links also is informative, it tells you what you can do and how to help birds with nesting materials on your property.By placing material in certain places where you can enjoy a quiet time with coffee or your favorite drink, and watch the birds use what you put out for them! I'm not sure but I think at some point because of weather the lint would eventually just disappear melting away into nothing that could be considered litter!

Pros; I think the birds would probably use lint on the inside of nests as a bedding, it’s soft and can help keep eggs or chicks warm. Cons; Because some say it’s not porous enough and will only clump when wet it is not a good choice to offer birds. There is the wash soap too to think about that might still be lingering in the lint!

Here is the links so you can read more for yourself, giving you a much better informative choice! birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/attracti... .

5 I used to put dryer lint out but no birds ever took it. Same with dog hair. I did have wrens, though, who learned to poke their beaks under the last row of clapboard and grab little pieces of the exterior Styrofoam board insulation.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
