I talked to many Germans of this generation and every single one would underwrite David Lloyd's report. Most I heard that not everything under Hitler was wrong at all and the majority of Germans didn't even know about the concentration camps and gas chambers. The Holocaust was wrong and terrible - no doubt about that.
But it's history and no German should be hold responsible for what happened in the past anymore. Germans paid a high price for their sins but it's enough now and kids can not be make responsible for what their grandfathers did. How many Israelis are still "hurt" by what Germans did to them but the same time sit e.g. comfortable in public transportation financed by Germans.
How biased is this?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
