Am I legally obliged to fill in all UK census questions?

I think what you see on censuses as far as race or ethnicities is in the eye of the beholder, the census taker. I have never had a census taker ask me my race. Of course I have a skin cancer type pigmentation with blue eyes.

I had so many precancerous lesions on my face I had to have the Efudex treatment and oh it burns. I was actually born with red hair but children's hair frequently changes as they age. So I guess the census taker just assumed I am white.

It is funny how people judge others. When I went to work at an insurance agency many years ago, this woman said two brothers who sold insurance for the agency definitely had some Mexican in them as they were "so dark." Well, they had black hair and black eyebrows but both were blue eyed and had a skin complexion that I felt if they spent a lot of time in the sun they likely to get skin cancer.

Actually the wife of one of them said her husband did have skin cancers removed. The woman who made the comment had darker skin tones than either of the two brothers. I have seen some people post here that some Irish are swarthy.

I consider swarthy someone with at least somewhat dark skin tones. I have been around a lot of Irish, native born Irish, and though I have seen some with dark hair and dark eyes, none of them were swarthy in my mind. Nuns who staffed the school in our parish, half of them were Irish born.

Also I am a retired employee of Christus Health which is owned by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and believe me those nuns have been overwhelmly from Ireland. Many of those nuns are cousins of mine. One who was an administrator of our hospital had dark hair and brown eyes but I never thought she was swarthy.

She was one of my cousins. So you see people make judgments of their own and you don't always understand their judgments. If you had white ancestors what some call Caucasian but DNA tests show Europeans didn't come from the Caucasus, and they tanned real well, maybe some would think they are non white.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
