An unusual question for photography buffs (or occupational therapists/rehabilitatio n pros)?

The hard part at present is getting the camera to eye level. I'm aware that tripods may be the answer, but is it the only answer? And are there tripods that don't require upper body strength to set up?

In my mind's eye, I see a device that rests on the photographer's shoulders/chest, stabilizes the camera and brings it to eye level. Am I making this up or does it actually exist? If it exists, can you tell me what it's called and/or where it is sold?

For me, such a device would work better than a tripod because it wouldn't need to be set up, moved, closed up, etc. , and because it would come along with me as I zoom along. Any ideas would be most welcome. Asked by primerib 53 months ago Similar questions: unusual question photography buffs occupational therapists rehabilitation pros Arts > Photography.

Many digital cameras now have flexible LCD viewscreens which bend and show exactly what your picture will be They could sit the camera on their laps or on a tray , bend the LCD viewscreen up, glance down at it and compose the picture and snap it without lifting it up at all. All they need is the strength to point the camera and press the shutter button. Here are two (of many) cameras that will do this easily. No need to look through a viewfinder hole in this day and age!

1 Oops. I forgot to mention that I own a Canon A610, specifically because of its swivel viewfinder. It has served me in good stead, but today I saw a butterfly just above where I could aim my camera... That's what prompted my question.

3 what about a harmonica holder. It goes around your neck and has a piece that spreads apart to hold a harmonica. just a thought. Don't know if it would spread apart enough but maybe could be rigged to do so.
