This new move isn't really a surprise, and in line with the move of Mahalo from a place we all build and profit from together (eg. A community), to an actual business in which Mahalo gathers all revenue, and 'hires' community members to provide content to them (either in the form of pages, or Q&A). Sadly, Corey does not indicate WHAT ways of compensating will be used, and as July 31 is approaching very quickly, a bit more information would be helpful.

For some reason, the words "Guides" and "contracts" spring to mind... I'm not saying this new business model is bad, it's simply different from the one used previously, in which member participation and 'ownership' were stimulated. In my opinion, Mahalo is quickly losing its 'soul' as a community, as many of the old members have left (or have been driven out). When I now visit Mahalo Answers, I see a Q&A site, just like so many others.

Somehow the spirit and sense of community has gone, and it's really a shame. I hope it returns in time.

I hope it all goes well for Mahalo. Because isn't going well for the users. No, hang on, that's not entirely true.

Some users are benefiting from the new arrangements. Some users are working hard through all the ups and downs and they deserve whatever 'rewards' Mahalo deems appropriate ( subject to change without notice of course :) Good luck guys and gals I was thinking of the "Answers guru" type commitment and realised I didn't think I could invent meaningful answers and questions every day and hours a day without that "I'm selling myself" feeling, so I'm just here to try and enjoy myself and forget about the good things that used to be. I'm really glad I didn't write heaps of pages!

Wow, whew! I was just getting the hang of it when Mahalo ending page management...nice to try I guess, and I was just starting to make some meaningful income too. Oh well, I am not really a writer so no harm done ( except to my bank account that is :) Since the store doesn't ship internationally and I'm not really in a position to give to charity ( being in a pretty bad situation myself ) the loss of Answers revshare is probably fitting....I had no place to take whatever I earned anyway.

I really did like the Paypal money. Wow, it helped me pay some bills and I was so looking forward to making some serious money to help me out...I was envious of the people who could write great pages and complete the tasks ( hey and I know some of you still are as 'semi-staff' I guess :) and get hundreds every month, if not thousands! Gee that was inspiring wasn't it?

Seeing your name on the monthly payout reports...what happened to all those reports? Why don't we still see anything like that anymore...oh well....no reason now to see them. Not many people making money out of the casual "Mahalo experience" these days, even if it was only a few dollars here and there.

And yeah, not so many scammers I see...that's a nice change :) Well, I'm feeling slightly "displaced". I've spent lots of time lately looking for a local job of some kind but no luck so far. I've never really had a career ... just done things and been good at them.

Versatile I guess but out of place too. Mahalo was a place I could come and make money to help me keep my home and pay bills and enjoy myself at the same time. I have enjoyed my Mahalo days :) I mean the Mahalo when the community still existed, when it was just getting to be a comfortable, enjoyable, safe and fiesty place to be.

Mahalo is a business and it seems to be doing well. I can't say the same for anything else unfortunately.. Have a good weekend :).

My first 10 weeks of Mahalo Answers was remarkably like what we will have now. We have the RFTGs back again, the default tips are M$0.10 instead of M$0.25 but the revenue sharing on Mahalo pages has gone, just like pre June 3rd 2009, the revenue sharing on Mahalo Answers is gone, just like it was pre June 3rd 2009, if we were to resurrect the AotD and the QotD and the Mahaloian of the Week as this announcement suggests Mahalo might (contests for great answers / questions / comments / new users) things here at Mahalo Answers would be almost exactly the same as Mahalo 1.0. I have not seen any belt tests in a while?

Huh, go figure on that long trip around the cul-de-sac I just want to answer questions for American Express Gift Cards. I know I know I know "@buddawiggi but what about the sister sites, team tipping, and the addition of anonymous questions?" yes they and the removal of anonymous voting on undecided questions for points are the only differences.

While I am sad to see rev share go, your example of why it failed was perfect & I trust that the reward programs you replace it with will be good ones. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Note: based on some of the unsatisfied answers it may be best to announce your alternate programs ASAP.My suggestions: Question of the Day/Week/Month.

Every best answer you get counts as a ticket, at the end of a month or quarter have a drawing for a fairly big ticket item. IPod touch, Kindle, Nook ect .. . Mahaloan of the Month, give $50m or more to a mahaloan who has given consistantly great answers for the prior month.

In addition to not being good news and not being a surprising development, this is not a very satisfying answer. Because there were some examples of short q's and easy a's earning big $'s (with Mahalo earning, too), we're going to scrap the entire system? Why not set some objective standards to earn the rev share - or, even permit a subjective review by a community manager (or, the community)?

Instead, we are throwing out a bunch of good apples because of the one bad apple*, and replacing it (eventually) with what sounds like it will be a subjective system which will almost certainly not distribute the same amount to the community as was distributed in the rev share system. Well, I don't think there are any more shoes to fall.... Which, of course, means that the next thing to go will be our belts.(Thanks. Don't forget to tip your servers.

I'll be here through the weekend. Drive safely.) --- *back to the 70's song references ple to write good answers in the.

Again, a quality question or answer to one person doesn't mean it's quality to another. Could be a play for favoritism. It should be up to the asker, and by votes, to determine a Best Answer, not Big Brother Mahalo intervening on what's right and wrong.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
