Answers from non religious only please: Christian turned atheist turned agnostic, still wonder about death?

Thanks for asking this. I appreciate it. That's a tough question.

I can say a couple of things: 1) Strictly speaking, Christianity does teach that explicit faith in Jesus Christ is the only guarantee of salvation, and of entering the Kingdom of Heaven--here, and into eternity. Without Jesus, there is no guarantee of salvation, because He's the only one who can pardon sin, and restore right relationship with God. 2) Despite that, God knows the heart of every single person on this planet, and will judge justly according to His infinite knowledge.

It is possible that He could have mercy on those who didn't expressly confess themselves as Christians. I personally believe that God delights in those who are sincerely seeking for the Truth; then again, only God knows if a person is truly sincere. I think if this agnostic was honestly seeking for answers and communicating with God, God would make Himself manifest to Him.

However, if the agnostic was still confused enough to not commit in faith, I would tend to think God would still show that person mercy... I really believe that my first point is true; I am leaving room for my 2nd point, because I don't want to pretend that I have God fully figured out. But in either case, I trust God to make the right decision, because all his ways are perfect. Bottom line is that Jesus is the Truth, and there is no other Way to the Father in Heaven besides Him.

Bless you in your life, Scarlet. I hope that you yourself seek for the Truth, and find Him.

It would be hard for me to believe that God would not help someone looking to turn their life around and believe in Him. However, that being said, if that person died before he felt God's help, then I believe God would judge him based on what was in his heart at that time. Maybe this person was sorrowful for all the things he did and was looking for God for forgiveness but died short of that, I think, sure, God knows and would allow him into heaven.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
