It's not regional. I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. (Southern Baptist) I live in the middle of Manhattan, NY now.
Theists are theists. And you are right that they know little of their own book, for the most part. I have met a really intelligent Unitarian Universalist ex-minister that lives in my apartment building and when he found out that I went to theology school for four years, we started having little debates in the elevator every day.
He's really the smartest theist I've met, including my theology professors at Olivet. For the most part though, the same lack of knowledge among Christians in GA is present in Christians in NY.
I'm from the Mexican server of Yahoo Answers. I got many hot debats and discussions with many people with different ideologic-religious postures, between atheist, agnostics, deists, pantheist etc. I'm a deist-anticreationist and I've some good arguments to discuss the existence-non-existence of a god and also for discuss the characteristics that may have a deity. Nevertheless, I think the characteristic of "creator" god is a fallacy.
Okay. I return to the mexican server, but I'll come more often. Here, I see less trolls than the mexican server in this section.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
